Entrepreneurial City plans actions to implement the program in Santa Isabel do Rio Negro

The municipality will be the third to join the program in Amazonas that accelerates socioeconomic development

Manaus (AM) – To strengthen the tourist and entrepreneurial potential of the region, the Municipality of Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, in partnership with Sebrae Amazonas, will implement in June the Entrepreneurial City, a program that accelerates the socioeconomic development of the municipality.

Indicated for being considered the territory of tucunarés-açus, thus being a suitable place for sport and sustainable fishing, in addition to having a high potential for the export of ornamental fish that can move the local economy, Santa Isabel do Rio Negro will be the third municipality to join the Entrepreneurial City program.

There will be seven months of work, where around 100 solutions will be applied, which, according to Mayor José Ribamar Fontes Beleza, aim to offer training to the population as well as bringing entrepreneurs closer to the public authorities.

“Developing small entrepreneurs, making commerce grow, in addition to activities for our municipality to evolve. This partnership with Sebrae will bring transformation to Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, which I am sure will be prepared to expand all this potential”,

explains the mayor.

José Ribamar adds that Cidade Empreendedora arrives at a favorable time to strengthen employment and income for the region. “So this is going to be very important for us, the partnership with Sebrae, even more so for ornamental fish activities, fishing activities and family farming as well.”

In the context of the program, the actions are aimed at resuming the activity of the ornamental fish production chain. In the Rio Negro basin, ornamental fish are already in evidence and represent more than 80% of the total fish exported per year, in addition to being recognized by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) with the Geographical Indication (GI) of the Rio Negro. Negro, which certifies the Indication of Origin (IP) for ornamental fish.

According to the city’s GDP, for example, agriculture is the third activity that most economically adds to the municipality, representing 74.7% of revenue. Still, in the Rio Negro basin, ornamental fish account for more than 80% of the total fish exported per year, having the recognition of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) with the Geographical Indication (GI) of the Rio Negro, which attests the Indication of Origin (IP), for ornamental fish.

Working together with other institutions, Cidade Empreendedora is also in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in Amazonas (MAPA), where it joins efforts to resume Ornamental Fishing as an instrument of sustainable development for the municipality of Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, with forecast of a business roundtable in digital format.

According to the deputy superintendent of MAPA, Vinícius Lopes, with the program’s performance in the municipality, the strengthening of the sector is an important investment for the population.

“There is no doubt that the Entrepreneurial City strategy has already established itself as an important tool capable of enhancing actions promoted and supported by MAPA in the Amazon, such as the first International Ornamental Fish Fair of Rio Negro, in which the municipality of Santa Isabel, thanks to the partnership with SEBRAE, it should have a prominent role”,

says Lopez.

For the ornamental fish sector, the program aligns actions that will be focused on Marketing, trade and sales of ornamental fish; Good post-harvest handling practices for ornamental fish; Ornamental Fish Caravan Mission; Good practices in fish farming with technology adoption. In addition to planning the first International Ornamental Fish Fair.

With the official launch of the program scheduled for June 3, the mapping carried out by the technical staff of Sebrae/AM with representatives of the municipal secretariats, the program will also bring solutions to artisans and urban and rural entrepreneurs, with activities aimed at marketing and photography management for artisans; good manufacturing practices for flour and its derivatives; good practices in the cultivation of açaí; chestnut planting; pineapple culture and cultivation of fruit trees for pulp production.

The creation of the Tourism Planning Plan (POT) is still in the planning of Cidade Empreendedora, which defines actions designed to promote tourism in the municipality, based on the main needs in order to create the necessary strategies to boost the sector.
