The objective is to strengthen the entrepreneurial and innovation culture through training, entrepreneurship and open innovation actions.

Manaus (AM) – Softex, coordinator of the Priority Program for Fostering Innovative Entrepreneurship (PPEI), in partnership with the Manaus Free Trade Zone Superintendence (Suframa), announces the launch of the Empreende+ Amazônia program. The objective is to strengthen the entrepreneurial and innovation culture in the Western Amazon region – comprising the states of Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia, Roraima – and Amapá, through training, entrepreneurship and open innovation actions.

The Empreende+ Amazônia program is made up of five projects that operate in specific moments of maturity. They are: Professor+ Entrepreneur, Ela Empodera+ Amazônia, Avança+ Amazônia, Amazônia+ Innovadora and Amazônia+ Global. In all, there will be 100 professors, 50 startups, 10 ICTs and 20 companies benefiting from the program, in addition to 5 executing institutions.

“The goal is to transform the Western Amazon and Amapá into a hub of entrepreneurship and innovation, creating opportunities, promoting sustainability and valuing local vocations and talents. We promote innovation and economic and social development in a sustainable way, generating a positive long-term impact through the training of professors, entrepreneurs, researchers and innovation actors; stimulating business generation – in Brazil and abroad – and strengthening the entrepreneurial culture”,

explains the superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva.

From the Amazon to the World

The Empreende+ Amazônia journey begins with the Professor+ Empreendedor project, which aims to train up to 100 teachers to act as disseminators of entrepreneurship concepts in their classrooms.

To stimulate the creation and development of new businesses, 20 startups in the initial stage led by women will be chosen for pre-acceleration at Ela Empodera+ Amazônia and 20 startups with already validated solutions and in the traction phase will be accelerated at Avança+ Amazônia.

Action in market access takes place through the Amazônia+ Inovadora projects, for open innovation, and Amazônia+ Global, for internationalization. These actions are aimed at expanding business opportunities and expanding collaboration.

“We will select up to five institutions via public notice to carry out the five projects independently and, subsequently, we will open a call for professors, startups, entrepreneurs and companies interested in participating in each of the initiatives”,

highlights Ruben Delgado, president of Softex.

The resources for implementing the Empreende+ Amazônia program come from the Priority Program for Innovative Entrepreneurship (PPEI) in the Amazon, developed in partnership with Suframa.
