Easter sales point to stability – 07/04/2023 – Panel SA

Expectations for sales this Easter do not point to big jumps compared to last year.

For Antonio Pereira Carvalhal Neto, director of Casa Flora, importer of beverages and food, the projection of stability is linked to the high level of interest, which harms resellers.

“Many customers, who expected to open a store, a market, are afraid to seek this investment capital in banks. The rates end up limiting this movement, reducing the chance of expansion and, of course, affecting consumption. The entire chain is affected,” says Neto.

The CNC (National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism) had already been signaling the prospect of a timid 2.8% increase in sales volume.

In stores in the region of 25 de Março, in São Paulo, the forecast is also for an Easter tied with 2022, according to Marcelo Mouawad, director of Univinco (which brings together shopkeepers in the neighborhood).
