Easter egg and Christmas panettone are on the market – 02/14/2024 – Cozinha Bruta

The conversation is repeated year after year, in elevators across Brazil: “This year, Easter eggs arrived earlier than ever at the supermarket.”
It’s difficult to know if it’s just printing or if the industry is actually working progressively on increasing the permanence, on the shelves, of seasonal products such as panettone and Easter eggs.
The fact is that, recently, the routine of displaying chocolate eggs and increasing the supply of codfish as soon as Carnival ends was created.
It is also a fact that in 2024 something unprecedented occurred. At least for me.
Even before Ash Wednesday, Easter eggs shared space with the panettone left over from Christmas.
This year’s calendar certainly contributes, with Carnival falling particularly early in February.
But, apparently, there was a stranding of panettone much higher than normal in 2023. Mainly from very expensive imported brands.
At Pão de Açúcar on Rua Cardoso de Almeida, in Perdizes, they still try to sell an Italian panettone for R$199.
At this price, it could be left on the shelf until the next batch of panettone arrives in October. Or will it be August? End of April?
