Doralyce emphasizes activism in the rhythm mix of ‘Dassalu’, an album produced by Guilherme Kastrup

♪ Singer, songwriter and activist from Pernambuco, Doralyce released her fourth album, Dassalu, yesterday, June 2nd, two weeks after being notified that the feminist recording of samba Mulheres (1995) – Martinho da Vila’s success revitalized on the wheels in the well -successful version of Doralyce – would have to be withdrawn from streaming platforms due to composer Toninho Geraes and Universal Music label. With nine tracks that mix references from genres such as Afropop, Latin pop, MPB, pagotrap, R&B, pop, hip hop, salsa bregadeira, trapfunk, downtempo and chill out, the album Dassalu derives from Doralyce’s activist manifesto. “My record has a Nagô house influence, an Arab, Muslim influence. It’s an afro diasporic record. Therefore, the messages that this album brings come with an ideology and a sound of an affectionate, Afro-centered and feminist revolution”, contextualizes the artist. With the participation of Bia Ferreira (in Fúria, song that opens the disc) and the piano playing of João Donato, the album Dassalu has musical production orchestrated by Guilherme Kastrup. The authorial repertoire is composed of songs such as Antes de Nascer o Sol, Said by the Unsaid, I Said Enough, Ewa, Solar Plexus and Ventos de Oyá. With a cover that exposes art created by design Gabriela Meira, the Dassalu album arrives in the world in an edition of the Colmeia 22 seal.
