Developments: Serasa sees debt agreements rise 41% – 07/25/2023 – Market

In the opening week of Desenrola Brasil, Serasa Experian saw debt renegotiations grow 41% on its platform compared to the week before the launch of the program. 1.046 million agreements were made between July 17th and 23rd, considering bank debts and other segments.

A week earlier, between the 10th and the 16th, 744,300 deals were closed. The data were disclosed by Serasa this Tuesday (25).

The credit bureau also informed that more than 1.5 million people with bank debts of up to R$ 100 had their names removed from their negative records. Balance sheet by Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks) released on Saturday (22) shows that more than 2 million names were cleared in five days of Development, with R$ 500 million negotiated.

The data refers to debts negotiated inside and outside the first phase of the federal government program, track 2, which began in the second (17). This is due to the fact that many consumers ended up looking for the credit bureau to negotiate their debts separately with Desenrola.

Taking into account only bank debts, the Serasa Limpa Nome platform brokered 232,000 agreements in the first week of the program —an increase of 47% compared to the week before the launch of Desenrola, which recorded 158,000 negotiations. If we compare the debut of Desenrola with the total number of negotiations carried out between June 19th and 25th, the increase is 62%.

In all, the banks offered almost BRL 1 billion in discounts on renegotiations: BRL 973.966 million were written off, the company said. The number is 97% higher than the reductions granted between June 19 and 25, which reached the mark of R$ 473 million at the time.

Companies take a ride on the program to negotiate debts

It’s not just the banks that are renegotiating. This Monday (24th), Via (Casas Bahia and Ponto) and Renner anticipated the Desenrola and announced conditions for paying off debts on the booklet and on the card. This is a movement specific to the chains, since the Retail Development officially begins in September, when track 1 begins.

Companies from various segments also took advantage of the effect caused by Desenrola and used the Serasa Limpa Nome platform last week to expand agreements on overdue debts.

There were 814 thousand negotiations signed between consumers and companies between July 17th and 23rd. A week before Desenrola, 586 thousand negotiations were made, 28% less than in the program’s opening week. Between June 19 and 25, 507,000 agreements had been registered.

In the first six days of Desenrola, companies granted BRL 2.6 billion in discounts —90% more than the BRL 1.3 billion offered between June 19 and 25.

Delinquency dropped for the first time in the year

report by Fodaughter Published on Friday (21) showed that defaults fell for the first time in 2023, according to data from Serasa Experian. The survey includes data for June, prior to the beginning of Desenrola.

The study shows a reduction of 450,000 people with debts compared to May. There are 71.45 million Brazilians in debt, a number close to that recorded in April, when 71.44 million were in default.

According to Serasa, the type of debt that tops the list is banking and cards, with 31.1%. Next come utilities (22.1%), finance (15.2%), retailers (11.4%), services (10.6%) and telephony (4.8%). Other segments, together, reach 4.8%.

Tips for not falling into Desenrola Brasil scams

Serasa offered tips so that the consumer does not fall into scams involving Desenrola. The company reinforced that it centralizes negotiations in its Serasa application, available in the Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS), and on its website (at this link).

The company recommends that citizens be suspicious and not click on links received by emails or messaging applications and check the authenticity of the sites.

Serasa provides a means of payment checker on the Limpa Nome platform, also available on the internet, Google Play and the App Store. In all, more than 338,000 queries have been made by the validator since November 2022, says the company.

After logging in with CPF and password, the user must select “Solutions”. Then, go to the “Validate Payment Method” option in the Payments section. Finally, you need to add the Pix code or barcode in the indicated field.

If the payment slip is not from Serasa, check that the beneficiary field contains a financial institution authorized to renegotiate debts. Fraud attempts can be registered in police reports at online Civil Police stations.

What is the difference between tracks 1 and 2 of Desenrola Brasil?

Track 2 of Desenrola, which came into effect on Monday (17), will clear the name of citizens with debts of up to R$100.

The participant must earn between R$2,640 (two minimum wages) and R$20,000 per month, will have a minimum period of 12 months to pay off the debt and will negotiate the amount of installments and the interest rate directly with the bank. There is no limit on the amount to be paid.

Adherence to track 1 of Desenrola will only start in September. It is aimed at those who receive up to R$ 2,640 per month or are enrolled in CadÚnico (Single Registry for Social Programs), and entered the list of negatives from January 1, 2019, remaining until December 31, 2022.

Tier 1 will allow you to renegotiate up to R$ 5,000 in any type of debt, as long as it is not rural credit, real estate financing, operation with funding or third-party risk, and debt with real guarantee. Payment can be made in cash or in installments over 60 months, with installments starting at R$50 and an interest rate of a maximum of 1.99% per month.
