One of the rising and most experimental names in national contemporary funk, DJ RaMeMes comes to Rio Grande do Sul for the first time to perform in two cities. This Friday (10th), he plays at Collab Casa Azul, Rua Gen. Lima e Silva, 912, as the main attraction of the Rewind #4 event, held in partnership with Casa Sacramento Company and with the presence of DJ Gordex and DJ PMP21. On Saturday (11), he heads to the south of the state to perform in Rio Grande at the RaMeMes Ball at Heaven, at Praia do Cassino, Rua Ijuí, 671.

Born in Volta Redonda, an industrial city in Rio de Janeiro and headquarters of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional, the DJ celebrates a good moment in his career, with a sequence of busy months due to a busy schedule and more interstate shows.

RaMeMes, professional name of Ramon Henrique Fernandes, started playing in 2017 to laugh with friends while playing with the possibilities of carioca funk and its variants. Since then, he has been developing his own path within the musical genre, characterized by a mixture of humor, boldness and cultural references, and accelerating beats per minute (bpm) to unusual levels within recent funk. It was in this way that, when making a setlist of songs at 200bpm, he was criticized as a “funk destroyer”, a nickname that, transformed into a positive perspective, became one of the titles that the DJ crowned himself.

Coming off a very productive 2022, RaMeMes started the year with the release of his work with the greatest repercussion in his career so far when participating in Pabllo Vittar’s new album, night out. He was asked to produce the track Calm down friendan interlude of just over a minute with the participation of the carioca Anitta, based on WhatsApp audios.

The song, one of the most popular on the album since its release, joins his other works as a production made in his kitchen, the largest room to hold the computer. From there, in the house where he lives with his father and on the land he shares with his grandmother, he also interacts with admirers of his work, building rapport with them through social networks and seeing his work become popular beyond Rio de Janeiro.

Often called idle with affection by his followers all over Brazil on digital platforms for being very attentive online, RaMeMes has fun and values this relationship and perceives it as beneficial to him as an artist. In an interview with Jornal do Comérciohe talked about getting close to fans, developing his songs and how he handles what’s coming up new and good for him.

RaMeMes – Almost everything friends showed me, then I get interested, I’m enchanted and it makes me want to move and do something with the songs that have my face. I also have a lot of influence from cartoons and games, and I try to put that into the songs. The audience reaction is great!

JC – You have a strong online presence and playfully interact with the public, who play back. How do you perceive your relationship with the fans of your work?

RaMeMes – In online games there are usually communities that interact and try to improve the game together, and I try to do that in the midst of music. I think that if I make my community strong, it helps me to improve.
