Ten million people with debts of up to R$100 had their “name cleared” with the Desenrola Brasil program, a debt renegotiation program launched by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The data was released this Sunday (10) by the Ministry of Finance.
The program began in mid-July and, in this first phase, involves people with a monthly income between R$2,640 and R$20,000 and no debt limit. Negotiations are made directly between clients and institutions.
According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), in seven weeks of the Desenrola program, R$11.7 billion in financial volume were renegotiated. The number of debt contracts negotiated reaches 1.6 million, benefiting 1.25 million bank customers. The number reaches 10 million with data from institutions not associated with the federation.
The next stage of the Desenrola program is scheduled to be launched at the end of September, through a platform for renegotiating debts of up to R$5,000 for those who earn up to R$2,640 or are included in the federal government’s Single Registry.
