Deputies increase pressure on dispute at Sebrae – 03/28/2023 – Panel SA

Faced with pressure from the Lula government to change the command of Sebrae, the deputies and senators of the Parliamentary Front for Commerce and Services increased the pressure in favor of maintaining the current direction. On Thursday (30), there will be a vote that may dismiss Carlos Melles.
Considered a name of Jair Bolsonaro, Melles was elected to his second cycle in command of Sebrae at the end of last year. The term of office of the entity’s board, sworn in in January, ends in 2026, but this week’s vote in the national deliberative council may change it.
The parliamentary front launched a manifesto, signed by Senator Efraim Filho (União-PB) and Deputy Domingos Sávio (PL-MG), in which they call the government’s initiative to trample Sebrae’s statutes and demand a new election as worrying. For them, the current leaders have already demonstrated that the entity will remain allied with the Executive regardless of party alignment.
“It is essential to preserve Sebrae’s institutional conquests and stability in the relationship with the public power, especially the federal government. It must be harmonious, but independent, without a relationship of subservience or interference in its administration. In this way, it is a win-win game. wins, good for Sebrae, good for the government, and even better for micro, small and medium entrepreneurs in Brazil”, said Efraim Filho in a note.
The PT tries to replace Melles with ex-deputy Décio Lima. For this, at least 11 of the 15 council votes will be needed to promote the removal of the current president.
As shown by the Panel, the government’s articulator in the arm wrestling within Sebrae is Paulo Okamoto.
