The state of São Paulo has recorded at least seven deaths from dengue since the beginning of 2024. In addition to the four deaths reported by the CVE (Epidemiological Surveillance Center), the cities of Bebedouro, Jacareí and Dois Córregos have recorded the deaths of three residents in recent days infected by the virus.
To date, there have been two fatal cases in Bebedouro, two in Pindamonhangaba, one in Dois Córregos and two in Jacareí, which declared a state of emergency on Monday (29).
With 1,413 confirmed cases of the disease this year, the scenario in Jacareí is one of epidemic, and the municipality wants to join the small group of cities that will receive the dengue vaccine. According to the city hall, a letter will be sent to the Ministry of Health asking for the municipality to be included on the list.
According to the current list, only Guarulhos, Suzano, Guararema, Itaquaquecetuba, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Mogi das Cruzes, Poá, Arujá, Santa Isabel, Biritiba-Mirim and Salesópolis will receive doses of the vaccine in the state.

The new deaths were confirmed by city halls and are not yet included in the data on the disease made available by the state government.
In the last CVE update, as of January 20, the state had recorded 10,728 cases of dengue and four deaths. Last year, in the same period, there were eight deaths.
In the capital, in the first three weeks of January, there were 1,792 confirmed cases, a number that already exceeds the total recorded in the first month of the year since the beginning of the historical series, in 2015. The previous record occurred in 2016, when 1,252 confirmations of the virus were recorded. illness.
