David Uip takes over as infectious diseases director at Rede D’Or – 12/20/2023 – Health

Infectious disease specialist David Uip, 71, was announced as the new national director of infectious diseases at Rede D’Or, the largest private health group in Brazil.
He joins the group’s team of renowned doctors and will be responsible for reorganizing the areas of assistance, research and teaching in infectious diseases in the institution’s health services, which manages Hospital Vila Nova Star and Maternidade São Luiz Star, in São Paulo, for example.
Uip was Secretary of State for Health of São Paulo between 2013 and 2018. Afterwards, he was the leader in the state department of Science, Research and Development in Health during the Covid-19 pandemic, being one of the main articulators of the São Paulo plan to combat illness.
The specialist was also executive director of Incor (Instituto do Coração de São Paulo), the Faculty of Medicine of USP (University of São Paulo) and the Instituto de Infectologia Emílio Ribas
“I am very pleased and honored to be able to contribute to the group in the development of new care and research and teaching protocols, as well as meeting old long-time colleagues, with whom I have had the privilege of working in other health institutions”, he says Uip.
Founded in 1977, Rede D’Or is present in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Bahia, Maranhão, Sergipe, Ceará, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Alagoas, Pará and the Federal District.
