Creditors get angry with Americanas shareholders – 03/01/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Americanas’ creditors expect the company’s shareholders to call a new meeting in the coming weeks to present a new proposal for injecting funds into the company.
JUST THAT?
The meeting that took place last month was considered a failure. In it, the trio of shareholders formed by billionaires Jorge Paulo Lemann, Beto Sicupira and Marcel Telles were willing to invest R$ 7 billion in Americanas. Banks want twice as much.
VERY ANNOYING
The climate for the resumption is not good. A group of Americanas creditors considers that the insistence of the trio of company shareholders in the narrative that they knew nothing and that they were deceived by directors of the chain of stores is the same as poking the jaguar with a short stick. And it only serves to stir up tempers amid the negotiation attempt to keep the chain of stores standing.
MATCH
Creditors say to the column that the first step for the current negotiation to evolve is the recognition that the trio Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcelo Telles and especially Beto Sicupira are responsible for what happened in the company. And they need to put money out of their pockets to save it.
SMOKE
But they see exactly the opposite: the intensification of an attempt to build, together with public opinion, the idea that the trio was deceived as much as the others who invested in the company.
IN ALL
The same bankers and debenture holders say that the version does not stand still. The director of a bank goes so far as to claim that not even the sign on a shop sign in the interior of the country was changed without informing Sicupira.
BY FAR
The trio has already stated that they did not participate in the management of Americanas and that they had no idea of the frauds that were practiced. The evidence of this is that they lost millions with the failure announced by the company at the beginning of the year.
