The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Financial Pyramids rescheduled the hearing with the partners of the 123milhas travel agency for this Wednesday (30). The recall was made after the partners Ramiro Júlio Soares Madureira and Augusto Júlio Soares Madureira, did not attend the CPI in a hearing that was scheduled for this Tuesday (29/8).
On Monday (30), Minister Carmen Lúcia, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined that the partners were obliged to attend the CPI and could remain silent on questions that could incriminate them.
According to the commission, the businessmen alleged “a matter of agenda”. The defense of Ramiro Julio Soares Madureira and Augusto Júlio Soares Madureira filed a letter, sent to the president of the CPI, deputy Aureo Ribeiro (Solidariedade-RJ), asking to postpone the testimony
The president of the CPI stated that he granted the request and rescheduled the hearing for this Wednesday (30), at 6 pm. According to Deputy Aureo, if the deponents refrain from appearing again, “there will be no other alternative for this CPI but to resort to coercive conduct”.
The collegiate approved, last Wednesday (23), the summoning of managers and the breach of secrecy of the company. The request refers to the announcement of the suspension of tickets made by the company last Friday (18), where the company alleged adverse market conditions forcing it to interrupt the promotional line during the remainder of the year. 123 Milhas announced that it intends to fully refund the amounts paid by customers with monetary correction, but through vouchers.
This Tuesday (29), 123milhas filed a request for judicial recovery, in the midst of the crisis following the suspension of tickets. The request was filed at the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais and the value of the case is more than R$ 2 billion.
In a note released to the press, the company informed that “the measure aims to ensure compliance with the commitments assumed with customers, former employees and suppliers. The Judicial Reorganization will allow to concentrate in a single court all the amounts owed”.
