Possebon was arrested after disembarking from the artist’s themed cruise.
Singer Alexandre Pires’ manager, Matheus Possebon, arrested for alleged involvement in illegal mineral exploration, was released after having a request for habeas corpus accepted by the Federal Regional Court of the First Region (TRF-1), on Friday night (8).
Possebon was preventively detained by the Federal Police of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, after disembarking from the artist’s themed cruise.
In addition to Matheus, other businessmen and miners are also being investigated in the same operation that investigates the movement of R$250 million in transactions with cassiterite — ore used for the production of paints, plastics and fungicides — which, according to the police, were illegally extracted from the Earth Yanomami indigenous people.
The decision was handed down by judge Maria do Carmo Cardoso, who said that there are still “several factual situations that still deserve clarification” regarding the investigation.
For Matheus Possebon to remain free, he must comply with some rules, including:
- Periodic appearance in court to inform and justify their activities;
- Attend all acts of the process;
- Report any change of address.
If the businessman fails to comply with any of the measures, pre-trial detention may be ordered again.
