The Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is the sum of all goods and services produced in the country, grew 2.5% in February this year compared to January, according to estimates released this Wednesday (3) by the Market Monitor. GDP of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

The growth in economic activity was driven mainly by agribusiness, with the harvest of the soybean crop starting in February. The industry and services sectors also performed well (see full text).

The GDP-FGV Monitor also points out that household consumption grew by 4.4% in the December-February quarter, due to services and non-durable products.

Also according to the FGV monitor, the Brazilian GDP also grew by 2.7% compared to February 2022, according to the FGV.

Last week, another indicator that seeks to measure the temperature of the economy also showed growth. The Central Bank Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) grew 3.32% from January to February, and 2.76% over February 2022.
