country generates 155,000 jobs in May, down 14.42% compared to April

Brazil generated 155.2 thousand formal jobs with a formal contract in the month of May, according to data from Novo Caged released this Thursday (29) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The balance is 14.42% less than that recorded in April, of 181.4 thousand, and 44.09% less than in May 2022, with 277.7 thousand jobs.
In all, there were 2 million admissions and 1.8 million dismissals in the month, with emphasis on the services sector, with a growth of 54%. The positive balance was registered in 23 of the 27 Brazilian states (see in full).
In the accumulated result for the year, the balance of formal job creation adds up to 865,000 jobs, with positive results in 24 of the 27 federation units in the five groups of economic activity analyzed by the ministry. In the services sector alone, the balance was 83.9 thousand formal jobs, followed by civil construction (27.9 thousand), agriculture (19.5 thousand), commerce (15.4 thousand) and general industry (8 ,4 thousand).
Caged data also show that the Southeast region created the most new formal jobs, with 102.7 thousand. In relative terms, the North had an increase of 0.61%. The states of Alagoas and Rio Grande do Sul had a negative balance of 8.1 thousand and 2.5 thousand, respectively.
