The Ministry of Communications authorized Correios to increase the rates for sending national and international letters and telegrams by 5.5%. The authorization was published in the Official Gazette this Monday and the readjustment is already in effect.
According to the government, the increase followed the inflation measured by the IPCA (National Consumer Price Index) in the period between January and December 2022, discounting the productivity factor.
Sending a national letter of up to 20 g rose from R$ 2.35 to R$ 2.45. The letter that weighs between 450 g and 500 g went from R$ 12.55 to R$ 13.25.
For those who send a national telegram through the Post Office, the price jumped from R$ 14.13 to R$ 14.90.
In the case of letters sent abroad, the price of a package that weighs up to 20 g varies from R$ 2 to R$ 3, depending on the destination country. The last readjustment of these services had been in May last year.
