Correios announces R$ 350 million in investments – 06/19/2023 – Panel SA

In the midst of the advance of delivery companies across Brazil, Correios announced this week the investment of BRL 350 million for the construction of new branches, modernization of operational centers and renovation of more than 6,000 branches across the country.

According to the state company, the last major operational center was created in Cuiabá (MT), in 2014. The investment package also complies with a request made by President Lula (PT), to strengthen the Post Office.

For the federal capital, the forecast is to invest R$ 190 million in the construction of a new complex, responsible for integrating the order processing operations and an integrated logistics center. According to Correios, a sorting machine will be installed with the capacity to treat 300,000 objects per day, promoting a 700% increase in relation to daily manual treatment.

Another three works are in the planning of the state-owned company: two branches in the standard format in Londrina (PR) and São Luís (MA) and an international hub in Natal (RN). The Potiguar agency should receive just over 20% of the imported orders that arrive in the Northeast region.

“By taking the center to the Northeast, we are generating thousands of jobs in the region. We are not only taking infrastructure, but consolidating the local vocation of becoming a logistics hub, which arouses the interest of other companies as well”, said the president of the state-owned company , Fabiano Silva dos Santos.

All new buildings will be modeled for a sustainable agenda, with the installation of photovoltaic panels and an intelligent air conditioning system, allowing savings of R$ 1.5 million per year in electricity.

For this year, 400 agencies have already approved their remodeling bids. The expectation is that the more than 6,000 remaining branches will receive improvements over the next three years.
