After launching its first returnable long neck in Curitiba, in September last year, Corona beer, Ambev’s brand, now calls on bars and restaurants to join forces and also become bottle collection points. The project was launched on July 18th in the capital of Paraná, when it was presented to the owners of food establishments outside the home in the city.

The brand argues that consumer participation and support from points of sale is essential to generate the intended positive impact. “We want to amplify the message that it is possible to think about a sustainable consumption cycle, encouraging bars and restaurants to become collection points, to create a capillary circular economy”, says Nilson Kalili, Ambev’s regional marketing manager in the South Region.

The bottle return process works in two ways. Consumers can access Corona’s website, enter their zip code and find the nearest collection point and take returnable long neck bottles for exchange. Or you can use the Zé Delivery app so that when you order your returnable bottles of Corona, you can exchange them with the delivery person, returning the empty long necks.

According to Kalili, “the bottle has the same appearance as the Corona that everyone knows, but with a more sustainable proposal, as by encouraging reuse, it reduces the production of waste”. The brand’s goal is to replace 100% of its current bottles with returnable ones. In Curitiba it already works like this and, according to the brand, this will soon be the practice throughout Brazil.

“Once again, we unite innovation and sustainability, bringing the first returnable Corona long neck in Latin America to Curitiba. Corona is an important part of our commitment to more sustainable action, thus proposing that everyone engage in this journey of structural changes for the future of more circular packaging and positive socio-environmental impacts”, adds Nilson Kalili.
