The cooperative captures around 150,000 liters of milk per day outside of the dry season. Without rain, the number drops by around 40%, an impact for the producer who sells less and for the cooperative that reduces the amount of distribution. “The solution was to find a property to plant corn and, thus, transform this corn into silage, supplying the product to our associate without a drop in milk production and still being able to serve our industry and the consumer market”, said Denilson . The cooperative’s technical assistance coordinator, Juliana Maria Piassi said that this is the cooperative’s first corn silage harvest and the expectation is that around 4,000 tons will be obtained so that, together with the amount of pasture, the final amount of milk needed to meet dairy production.
