Contemporary dance marks the first night of the artistic programming of the Música na Estrada Festival

This Thursday (10/08), the festival features classical music as the main attraction at Teatro Amazonas

Manaus (AM) – The first night of the artistic program of the 9th edition of Festival Música na Estrada was dominated by contemporary dance. Two programs as distinct as they are complementary enchanted the audience, which packed the audience at Teatro Amazonas on Wednesday night (09/08) to watch the shows.

The Corpo de Dança do Amazonas (CDA) opened the program with the choreography “TA | Sobre Ser Grande”, signed by the artistic director of the company, Mário Nascimento. The work is a visceral reflection on existence.

Then, Focus Cia de Dança, from Rio de Janeiro, presented a more pop and festive choreography, dancing to hits by singer Roberto Carlos in “As Canções que Você Dançou pra Mim”.

The meeting between the two companies in the same show was unprecedented. The members of both also carried out artistic experience and workshops in the educational program of the Festival Música na Estrada, which is presented by the Vale Institute, and carried out through the Culture Incentive Law, the Ministry of Culture, the Federal Government, and Kommitment Produções Artistic.

In Manaus, the project has the institutional support of the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

CDA’s artistic director and choreographer, Mário Nascimento, highlighted the relevance of the Music on the Road Festival. “The project itself is already very important. And the company has already had other participations in it, since this is the ninth edition. It is a very important process, especially for our region”,

praised.

The choreographer also highlighted the possibility of exchange provided by the festival. “For the CDA, this exchange of experience with Focus, which is a very important company in Rio de Janeiro, is excellent. Sharing the night with them is important for both of them because there is an exchange between a private company and ours, which is a state company, maintained by the public authorities. The two have a lot to talk about and many points in common”,

‘Different energy’

Alex Neoral, director and choreographer of Focus Cia de Dança, recalled that this is the fourth time that the company comes to Manaus and the second that it presents the choreography “As Canções que Você Dançou pra Mim” in the city.

“It is always very exciting to step on such a grand stage. This place here is so magical, so Brazilian, next to the Amazon rainforest. So, we feel a different energy that there is on this stage, it reaches our body and will reach, consequently, the audience”,

described the director of the Rio de Janeiro company.

Born in the Amazon, living in Portugal for 15 years, Ana Lúcia Quintino refers to Teatro Amazonas as her “home”. For her, attending a show at the Música na Estrada Festival was a privileged opportunity.

“For me, this experience of returning to my home has been wonderful. I brought my Portuguese husband to visit this wonderful Opera House, known all over the world. And I still have the opportunity to watch this contemporary dance show, in a connection between Rio de Janeiro and Manaus”,

stated.

The general director of the festival, Fernando Ramos, said he was happy to return to Manaus after what he classified as “a long winter”. The last time Música na Estrada was in Manaus was in 2019. “We continue to reinforce the importance of the exchange between cultural content that comes from outside and the city’s local content. We are very happy to be back in Manaus”,

declared.

The second night of the Festival Música na Estrada’s artistic program will take place this Thursday (10/08), at 8 pm. On stage, the Amazonas Philharmonic, the Coral do Amazonas and the soloists Kismara Pezzati (mezzo-soprano / Zurich) and Luiz-Ottavio Faria (bass / São Paulo), under the direction and conducting of maestro Marcelo de Jesus, presenting the monumental work “Requiem”, by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, also at Teatro Amazonas, with free admission and free rating.
