BC also promises application to centralize banking products
The consumer will soon be able to make purchases in the credit function via Pix, said this past Friday (11) the president of the Central Bank (BC), Roberto Campos Neto. The instant transfer tool will dispense with the use of a credit card.
“You will combine Pix and other products, remembering that you will be able to start being able to make credit on Pix, so, at some point in the future, you will not need a credit card, you will be able to do everything on Pix”,
said Campos Neto this afternoon at an event in Curitiba promoted by the Commercial Association of Paraná.
The BC president also promised a financial aggregator tool, an application that intends to centralize banking products and services in a single environment.
“In the financial aggregator, you will no longer need to have an app [aplicativo] for each bank. You can only have one [aplicativo]which will centralize all products with portability and competitiveness in real time”,
declared.
In the morning, in a lecture to businessmen from Paraná, Campos Neto had said that the Central Bank intended to offer more options for consumers in accessing credit purchases. Launched by BC in 2020, Pix, an instant transfer system, is being tested with other features, such as scheduled operations and recurring payments. BC is also studying the possibility of using Pix for international transactions.
end of rotary
At the same event in the morning, the president of the BC said he had been “snapped” for having informed that the body was studying the end of the credit card rotation. Campos Neto pointed out that the proposal is still under study and has not been closed.
“Our idea was to make a plan where it involved having an installment plan, that is, not having the revolving one, in such a way that we could balance the numbers for the product. We don’t have the details. I took an ear pull after I spoke. In the coming days, we will have a more decisive format”,
clarified.
The statement about the rotary took place this Thursday (10) in a public hearing in the Senate. The BC president did not say who reprimanded him. He only informed that he is discussing the idea with the Ministry of Finance, with financial institutions and business associations.
On the last day 2, the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said that the interest on the revolving credit card will fall, but that the rates should remain high until the government reaches a consensus with the banks and a “healthier system ”. According to the minister, the reduction will be gradual.
