Company begins the era of the Jetsons in the country – 06/27/2023 – Panel SA

Voar Aviation acquired from Eve, an Embraer subsidiary, 70 evtols —electric vehicles similar to the Jetsons’ cars— to implement its action plan in a new frontier: the air transport of passengers in large urban centers.

According to the company, the construction of the infrastructure is already underway: the so-called vertiports and maintenance centers in 29 Brazilian cities.

The first on the list will be São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Salvador, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Goiânia, Ribeirão Preto, Florianópolis and Camboriú.

The commercial operation, however, still depends on regulation. The discussion is underway in several countries around the world, including Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency).

The expectation is that flights will be released from 2025.

“The main metropolitan areas and tourist destinations will be structured by Voar taking into account the specific needs of the evtols, including space for landings and takeoffs, in addition to the electric charging infrastructure of the aircraft”, says Alessandra Abrão, CEO of Voar.

For Abrão, as it is electric, this new form of urban transport will contribute to reducing atmospheric pollution and to “promoting cleaner transport with less environmental impact”.

Voar is a Brazilian company that accounts for 25% of executive aircraft fleet management in the country. This includes, in addition to executive charters with own aircraft, aircraft administration, maintenance and management services. [para terceiros]aeromedical transport, sale of parts and aircraft.

Its network has 16 hangars at the main airports in the country, four specialized maintenance centers and a base in the USA.

Eve’s production of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (evtols) relies on funding of R$ 490 million from the BNDES for its first production phase.

According to the bank, the amount is equivalent to 75% of the total invested in this phase of the project. In addition to the pilot, the aircraft is capable of carrying four passengers. The noise emitted is 90% lower than that of the helicopter.
