The workshop aims to instruct the best way to carry out research for writers
Manaus (AM) — The Amazonian group of science fiction and fantasy writers, Coletivo Visagem, is holding, this Saturday (11), at 3 pm, the workshop “PodContos: the technological art of telling folk stories”, at the Amazonas Public Library, in the center of Manaus . The workshop aims to instruct the best way to carry out research for writers who wish to produce stories based on traditional narratives and publish them in audiobook format.
Lasting 3 hours, the free workshop will feature a lecture by the writer and master in literature, Jan Santos, and by the writer and audio editor Dante Saboia.
The event will be developed in two modules: the first, the theoretical one, will have a discussion about myth, legend and folklore; folklore, culture and identities and, finally, a discussion on research sources for folklore studies.
After the discussion, the workshop will have a practical activity with scripting of audio products; sound capture and editing; and publication on digital platforms.
The initiative has the support of the Culture and Tourism Secretariat of Manaus (Manauscult), through the public notice Manaus Faz Cultura.
about the ministers
Jan Santos holds a master’s degree in literary studies from the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), where he teaches textual production. He has four books of his own, “O Livro do Rio: Iguaraguá” (2021) being the most recent, and has won three editions of the Manaus Cultural Connections Award and, recently, the Thiago de Mello Award.
Dante Saboia is an audio editor and short story writer, being the only participant from the North to compose the anthology “CREEPYPASTA: legends of the internet” (Lendari, 2018). His participation in the anthology “Encantarias: stories of a futuristic Amazon” (2020) includes not only the short story “Lendas Forgotten”, but the publication of the audiobook version of the material.
