Cidade Matarazzo, a complex in São Paulo that brings together entrepreneurs and creators in a restored space —preserving historical heritage—, will receive the first physical space of Soho House in South America. The inauguration is scheduled for December 2023.
Soho House is a global cultural club known for bringing artists together, hosting events, meetings and parties. There are around 40 units around the world that function as a creative hub, bringing together advertisers, artists, designers, actors, writers, poets, gallerists, architects, among others.
In the capital of São Paulo, the club will occupy the space listed as cultural heritage where the maternity hospital of Hospital Umberto I, known as Hospital Matarazzo, used to be. It will have 36 rooms and a rooftop with a bar and swimming pool.
There will also be Soho House Design, with works by local artisans and an art collection composed of national artists. The furniture and design of the house will have Portuguese influence and Brazilian modernism. The environment will also be surrounded by nature, one of the complex’s proposals.
The space will be open to members and guests only. Membership can be done to access the São Paulo unit or for all units of the brand. A website was created for those interested, but the value to be part of the club has not yet been disclosed.
The Cidade Matarazzo complex was officially opened in January 2022 on a plot of about 30,000 square meters near Avenida Paulista. In all, there are ten buildings that house, for example, the Hotel Rosewood São Paulo, the first South American unit of the luxury hotel chain, Le Jardin, Blaise and Taraz restaurants and bars like Rabo di Galo.
