At least BRL 320 million of the BRL 500 million in tax credits allocated to the discounted car sales program have already been used by automakers since last week, according to an update released this Monday (19) by the Ministry of Development, Industry , Commerce and Services (MDIC).
The amount corresponds to 64% of the total resources in less than 15 days, allocated to 32 car models. According to the ministry, most of the resources – R$ 130 million – were used by FCA Fiat Chrysler, followed by Volkswagen (R$ 50 million), Peugeot Citroen (R$ 40 million), Renault (R$ 30 million), GM and Hyundai (BRL 20 million each), and Honda, Nissan and Toyota with BRL 10 million each.
The list of cars included in the program has not changed since last week: there are 266 versions of 32 models with government-sponsored discounts ranging from R$2,000 to R$8,000, valid for new vehicles with market prices up to R$ 120 thousand. Automakers can apply additional discounts on their own, as has been the case.
In addition to passenger cars, another ten automakers joined in the form of buses and 13 trucks. The volume of funds requested in both cases did not change in relation to the first balance, that is: R$ 100 million for trucks (or 14% of the R$ 700 million available) and R$ 130 million for buses (or 43% of the BRL 300 million available).
In the case of buses, the first balance sheets had shown only 12 assemblers. That’s because the 13th request was only released now:
Trucks: Volkswagen Truck, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot Citroen, Volvo, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans and Daf Caminhões.
Bus: Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagen, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Comil, Ciferal, Marcopolo, Volare, Iveco and Caio Induscar.
