The creator of ChatGPT, OpenAI, announced this Friday (12) that its text-generating artificial intelligence (AI) will next week be able to perform internet searches to access current information.

Until then, the bot only delivered responses with data prior to September 2021, used in AI training. ChatGPT, for example, does not answer who is the current champion of the Brasileirão de Futebol. He recommends consulting credible news sources.

The new feature, according to OpenAI, allows the bot to generate texts about recent topics. The technology will still be in the testing phase and available only to subscribers of the “plus” version of the product, at US$ 20 (R$ 98.46). According to the material released by the company, the rest of the users will access this option at the end of the evaluation period.

Sought, OpenAI did not specify a launch date or answer whether ChatGPT will deliver referral links, as does the Microsoft search engine, Bing.

Google announced that it will launch a new tab in the search engine to generate summaries and reviews on products and subjects searched, with a human tone. This will be done with generative artificial intelligence, according to the company’s vice president of engineering, Cathy Edwards.

The feature can help people bypass ads and pages written with search engine optimization (SEO) and get succinct answers to questions. The answers will still be accompanied by a list of links ordered according to the traditional Google ranking.
