OpenAI will also provide a new form for users in the European Union to exercise their right to object to the use of their personal data for training the company’s artificial intelligence models, the spokesperson said.

Garante accuses OpenAI of not verifying the age of ChatGPT users, who need to be 13 or older, and OpenAI said it will provide a tool to verify the age of users in Italy during registration.

Garante confirmed that the chatbot is back up and running in Italy and said its investigation into OpenAI continues.

The body welcomed the steps taken so far to resolve the issues raised and said it expected the company to comply with further requests from the regulator, particularly regarding age verification and information to Italian consumers regarding the use of their data.
