The Carrefour Group decided to hire some of the workers who were rescued in Rio Grande do Sul in a situation analogous to slavery. According to the company, there will be ten vacancies and hiring will happen through an agreement already signed with the City Hall of Lauro de Freitas, a municipality in Bahia that received back part of the rescued workers.
They will be offered jobs with a formal contract at Carrefour Group stores in the city, where the company has two units under the Atacadão banner.
According to the company, in the group that returned to Lauro de Freitas there are people with experience in supermarkets.
Most of the approximately 200 people rescued in the south came from Bahia. They were hired by a company that provided services to the Salton, Aurora and Cooperativa Garibaldi wineries, who claim to be unaware of the situation.
