Bumbá marched through the streets of the island
Manaus (AM) – Less than a week away from the 56th Parintins Folk Festival, the Bumbá Caprichoso took thousands of people to the streets of Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus), in Boi de Rua, one of the most traditional events of the season.
The gathering started at around 7:30 pm, at Curral Zeca Xibelão, from where the fans left to walk through the streets of the city, under the command of the presenter Edmundo Oran, the master of the ox, Prince do Caprichoso, and the toada lifter, Patrick Araújo , accompanied by the Marujada de Guerra.
Tradition
With current and old tunes, the blue fans sang from start to finish, declaring their love for Caprichoso. Professor Klirley Carla reported that she goes to the event every year and highlighted the importance of the party for Boi da Estrela lovers.
“For us, it is very important, as it brings together the entire blue and white nation. We are passionate about Caprichoso, so today I am here, with all my family, to honor Azul”
said the teacher.
The pajé Erick Beltrão stated that the Boi de Rua represents a moment of celebration.
“This moment is to celebrate our completed work. Caprichoso is ready and, God willing, we will celebrate this second championship”
emphasized Erik.
One of the members of the Caprichoso Arts Council, Socorrinha Carvalho, recalled that Boi de Rua is also a time to rescue an old tradition.
“Boi de Rua is the rescue of our tradition. It was in the streets that the oxen started, with people from the community. It’s a rescue of our ancestry coming back to play. It’s like we’re going back in time.”
said Socorrinha.
