Caixa: employees question names of Pedro Guimarães – 04/24/2023 – Market

Employees of Caixa Econômica Federal have questioned the presidency’s decision to keep people who worked with Pedro Guimarães and Daniella Marques, who commanded the bank during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in leadership positions.

In message groups, employees of the financial institution rescued videos and photos of executives with members of the Bolsonaro administration and complained that, while some people were persecuted for being branded PT, names of Guimarães and Marques remain in the current government.

In recent days, one of the targets was the Vice President of Operating Agent, Edilson Carrogi Ribeiro Vianna. He appears in a video taking a selfie with Bolsonaro while a group of Caixa employees surrounded the former president with shouts of “myth”. In the recording, it is also possible to see that Guimarães was watching the scene.

Vianna took office as executive director of the company at the beginning of the Bolsonaro administration, in 2019, and has been vice president of the Operating Agent since April last year – first as an interim and, since June, as an effective one. The area is one of the most coveted areas of the bank because it controls the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço).

People close to the president of Caixa, Maria Rita Serrano, claim that the rescue of old images is a reflection of the internal dispute for positions. A SheetSerrano stated that he will not repeat the “practice of persecution” of the “previous president”, and said that “all executives are under evaluation”.

“With Monday’s appointments [passada, dia 17] We have already changed nine areas of Caixa, in addition to the subsidiaries. I’m not like the previous president of Caixa and I’m not going to use the same practice of persecution, which I myself condemned as a director, “she said.

“All executives are under evaluation, we are making changes so as not to jeopardize the continuity of operations, which I believe is what the population expects from Caixa”, completed the president of Caixa to the report.

Another contested name is that of Julio Cesar Volpp, vice president of the Retail Network, the area responsible for all bank branches, including the 54 regional superintendencies. Appointed in July 2022, Volpp was in charge of the position when Caixa began to offer payroll loans to Bolsa Família beneficiaries – a measure seen to leverage Bolsonaro during the elections.

A Sheet, Serrano came out in defense of Volpp and contested the criticism for his participation in the previous administration. She said that the current VP of Rede de Varejo was persecuted in the Guimarães administration, lost the role of president of Caixa Cartão and stayed on as a bank technician until he was appointed by Daniella Marques.

Similar criticisms fall on the vice president of Retail Business, Thays Cintra Vieira, nominated by Guimarães for the position in 2021. A photo of her with federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and three former Bolsonaro ministers at an event at the Box in October circulated again in bank groups this week.

The pressure also falls on the boards of the bank and subsidiary companies. This is the case of Manoel Henrique Amorim, financial director of Caixa Capitalização. Amorim joined Caixa’s investment bank in 2019 and migrated to Caixa Capitalização in June 2021.

Another friend of Guimarães targeted by public bank employees is Rafael Pesce, nominated by Caixa on the board of Cartão Elo. The executive has been a friend of Pedro Guimarães since the former president of the financial institution was a partner at Banco Plural, where Pesce also worked.

Elo’s executive vice president arrived at Caixa in May 2019, already under the management of Guimarães, and has no career at the institution.

In a note, Caixa stated that “all executives are under constant evaluation and that changes are being made in a judicious manner, respecting the due rites of governance”. The bank also said that the current administration “repudiates any form of persecution or the spread of hatred, nor does it tolerate any type of harassment.”

The report was unable to contact Amorim. Vianna, Volpp and Vieira were approached through their respective vice-presidencies, but there was no response until the publication of this report. Pesce declined to comment.
