Presenter accompanied his friend to a kiosk on the Barra da Tijuca waterfront, West Zone of Rio

Ângelo Lages, head delegate of the 16th DP of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, told the newspaper O Globo that he will not indict Bruno DeLuca for failure to provide assistance in the actor’s accident Kayky Brito, which happened in the early hours of September 2nd. The presenter accompanied his friend to a kiosk on the Barra da Tijuca waterfront, West Zone of Rio. After testifying about what happened at the police station, Bruno claimed not to know that Kayky had been run over.

“Bruno was here, made his statements. The legal duty was on the driver to call for help. Once help is requested by a person, the people present at the scene are exempt from responsibility”,

said the delegate.

De Luca told the police that he does not remember how he got home after Kayky was run over on Avenida Lúcio Costa. He also said that he became desperate because he was terrified of accidents and that he only found out that the victim was his friend the next day.

At the time, the Multishow presenter stated that he tried to speak to the actor. That was when he found out that he was hospitalized in a serious condition and returned to Rio. A video recorded by security cameras shows the moment in which the presenter puts his hands on his head, scared, after seeing the accident.

The presenter took his own car and drove to the location. The vehicle was parked in front of the kiosk, on the other side of the lanes of Avenida Lúcio Costa. Still according to the presenter, he and Kayky would return by car because they would drink.

Bruno says that Kayky, before midnight, said goodbye and turned his back, going to the car that was parked. However, the actor cannot say what his friend was doing in the vehicle, since the key was in his pocket. At the time of the accident, Bruno reports that he saw a person being thrown into the air and that he became desperate for having “terrified of accidents”. The presenter claims that Kayky did not appear to be drunk.

“A lot has been said about Bruno De Luca’s testimony, but the legal duty lies with the driver. A driver who is involved in an accident has a duty to call for help. When he leaves the scene, he responds by default”,

concluded delegate Ângelo Lages.

Also according to Globo, the Rio Civil Police concluded the investigation into the run-over. According to investigations, the app driver who ran over Kayky was driving below the permitted speed on the Posto 6 section at the time of the accident.

The police investigation shows that Diones Coelho da Silva was traveling at an average of 48 km/h at the time of the collision. The maximum speed allowed on the road is 70 km/h. According to delegate Ângelo Lages, head of the 16th DP, the case was requested to be closed.
