Bruce Willis’ health status got a new update. In an interview with German magazine Bild, a cousin of the star reported that he is having difficulty moving around and recognizing family members. Last week, the family released a statement that Willis has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Wifried Gliem, cousin of Marlene Willis, the actor’s mother, told Bild that she “is not sure if her son recognizes her”. In addition, Wifried says that Willis’ movements “are very slow, with a constant aggressiveness”.
“It is no longer possible to carry on a normal conversation. This behavior is typical of patients suffering from the same condition,” she explained.
Known by the acronym FTD, frontotemporal dementia was detailed by Willis’s wife, Emma, in a statement the week before. “FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and it can strike anyone. For people under age 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely to be much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the coming years”, he points out.
