Tired of waiting two hours for lunch in São Paulo on a Sunday? Imagine facing 4 years of queuing for a restaurant in Bristol, England. The Bank Tavern (“The Bank Tavern”) welcomes customers who have been waiting since the Covid-19 pandemic to eat the famous roast.
According to The New York Post, the restaurant, which has been around since the 19th century, is the hardest in the world to get a table. What customers are really looking for is the traditional roast, served for Sunday lunch.
The dish is a kind of aged steak, which gained its own menu with variations at The Bank Tavern, with ingredients such as lamb, roasted pork belly, lentils and vegetables. The house won the award for best restaurant in Bristol in 2019 by The Guardian newspaper.
On the website of the place, the reservation system is closed. The pub owner explained to The Guardian how the pandemic has further increased the wait.
“We already had a six-month waiting list, but after [de 2019] everyone started trying to get on the list. Then came Covid. When we closed, we decided that anyone who had booked with us would be guaranteed a reservation. So, to manage this backlog, we closed our booking system,” said manager Sam Gregory.
