Brazilian drag, Fontana reports xenophobia in Sweden when entering the reality show: ‘Loneliness’

Confirmed in the Swedish version of “Rupaul’s drag race”, the Brazilian drag queen Fontana used social networks to vent about xenophobic attacks suffered. Without naming those responsible, or the types of messages she has been receiving, the gaucho said that hate messages are frequent and are rooted in a Sweden that is unknown to the general public.

“Sweden has deep xenophobic roots. In the elections, the Nazi party grew absurdly. Being a Latin LGBTQ+ drag queen immigrant puts me in layers of prejudice. A feeling of loneliness of not belonging anywhere, since I suffered a lot in Brazil”, he wrote Fontana, who then thanked the support of Brazilians who showed solidarity with the case.

This is not the first program that drag participates. In 2018, she showed her singing side in the also Swedish version of “Got talent”, reaching the semi-final stage. In the new reality show, Fontana competes for the crown with eight other competing drag queens.

Fontana was born in São Leopoldo, in Rio Grande do Sul, is 29 years old and lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
