Bourbon Atibaia has a new water park and Turma da Mônica – 07/21/2023 – Tourism

If you gathered a group of parents and caregivers of children in a gymnasium and announced “School holidays are over!” a wave of celebration could be heard. Take your breath away, especially for those who couldn’t combine their rest period with that of the little ones.

For those who have already exhausted their playing capacity at home or prefer to avoid traffic and queues for children’s programs, a tip is to look for a city in the interior of São Paulo that is close, like Atibaia, 65 km from São Paulo. Staying in a place with entertainment can be a good choice too.

The itinerary begins with a visit to Pedra Grande, an environmental protection area located 1,450 meters above sea level, and known for its beautiful view and the natural hang-gliding take-off ramp —which should capture the attention of the little ones.

The report was hosted at Bourbon Atibaia, one of the most popular resorts in São Paulo, according to Google Trends. The hotel has just opened AquaKids, an air-conditioned water park for children aged 3 to 12 years.

Themed with the bottom of the sea, the 360 ​​m² non-slip pool is covered and has a waterslide, a giant bucket and octopus tentacles that squirt water. The 30 cm depth is particularly popular with younger children, who use the slides independently.

Next to the wet part, there is a dry toy with a circuit, ball pool, mini climbing wall and slides. Even on colder or rainy days, you can enjoy it.

Upon check-in, the guest receives the intense monitoring agenda, divided by age groups (from 4 years old). Teenagers and adults are also part of the program, which runs from 9 am to 10 pm. The games involve physical activities, workshops and contact with characters from Turma da Mônica.

Every day of July, three characters interact with the children, creating situations similar to those in comic books. Photo sessions with them are scheduled, upon removal of password. Outside the vacation period, there is also monitoring, but the presence of Mônica, Cascão and co. only take place on weekends.

Every 15 minutes, a train passes through the lobby inviting families to discover the outdoor attractions, such as Chico Bento’s vegetable garden, Mônica, Magali, Cebolinha and Cascão’s houses and another heated pool with themed slides. Perhaps the parents will only be aware of the accumulated energy of the children when watching the number of times in a row that they manage to go down the trunk of the Jotalhão.

In the indoor area, there is a theater and two wings dedicated to children, one on the hotel’s mezzanine floor, with video game rooms, board games, giant chess and painting and handicraft workshops, and another called Fun Place, with bowling, electronics, a play area for babies and a Turma da Mônica park in outer space.

The hotel only offers full board, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner (non-alcoholic drinks with meals and desserts are included). There are three restaurants, one of which has a kids menu and lower tables for children to serve themselves.

Depending on the time of return home, it is still possible to explore some other attraction in the city, such as the cable car, near Lago do Major. On site, there are playgrounds and spaces for picnics and walking.

Another option is to visit Edmundo Zanoni Municipal Park, an area of ​​almost 40,000 m² with pedal boats, a viewpoint to take pictures, centenary trees and a natural history museum.

To end with an inland atmosphere, it is worth taking a walk around the city center, visiting the mother church and stopping to eat at one of the restaurants around the boardwalk.
