Boticário pro-coral campaign promotes sunscreen – 06/04/2023 – Panel SA

O Boticário launches, this Monday (5), Day of the Ocean, a campaign in defense of marine corals degraded by polluting substances dumped in the sea to advertise a line of ecological sunscreens.
Brazil is the third largest market for this type of product and sales are close to R$ 4.1 billion, according to the company. The country is second only to the US and China.
O Boticário entered this field via the licensing of the Australian Gold brand. The products are imported by Frajo, a company acquired by Boticário.
O Boticário claims to have developed, in partnership with an ecotoxicology laboratory in France, an innovative scientific methodology so that its protectors do not bleach or harm corals, protecting the marine ecosystem – the so-called reef safe [seguro para corais].
For this reason, in its campaign in Paulo, O Boticário will paint buildings along the Minhocão in white with messages warning about the precarious state of health of the corals.
One of the main causes of this natural disaster is the presence of pollutants in the sea, such as chemicals found in common sunscreen formula.
