‘Boogeyman’ expands Stephen King’s tale with scares and revamped Boogeyman; g1 already seen

Determined to find out what happened to Lester’s family, Sadie races against time so that her loved ones are not new victims of the monster. The British filmmaker shows that he knows how to create good atmospheres of suspense by creating scenes that leave the tension at an interesting level. It leaves the audience intrigued by what is happening on the screen. In addition, Savage makes good use of the “jump scare” feature, without appearing gratuitous. Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair) perceives something wrong in a scene of “Boogeyman: Your Fear Is Real”. Ineffective filmmakers end up getting lost with this feature and make their films difficult to follow due to the simple fact that you can’t see anything on the screen. But the director of “Boogeyman” goes to the limit: fortunately, he makes the audience understand what is happening in the plot. There is a feeling of discomfort, especially for those who are not very fond of being in dimly lit places. The only problem is that the film seems to shoot in all directions. The mix of drama, suspense and horror is not well balanced and can be off-putting to many people. Perhaps the problem lies in the script, written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) with Mark Heyman (“Black Swan”). The teenage core at Sadie’s school is expendable, which appears in scenes that add nothing to the story. Because of these irregularities, the film never quite reaches the full potential it could have. In the end, it is an efficient work and fulfills its objective, which is to make the viewer feel like a child who was afraid of monsters that were in the closet or under the bed, like the infamous Bicho-Papão.
