BNDES Board of Directors approves name of Mercadante for presidency of the bank

The Board of Directors of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved this Wednesday (25) the name of Aloizio Mercadante Aloizio Mercadante for the presidency of the bank. Created in 1952, BNDES is a federal public company linked to the Ministry of Economy. The institution is a government instrument for long-term financing and investment in various productive sectors. This Wednesday, three other names were also approved: Social Board: Tereza Campello, former Minister of Social Development and one of the creators of Bolsa Família; Capital Markets Director: Natalia Dias, president of Standard Bank Brasil; and Director of Human Resources and Operations: Helena Tenório, career employee at the BNDES Mercadante’s announcement to the BNDES Mercadante’s choice to head the BNDES was announced by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on December 13. In Lula’s campaign for the Planalto Palace, Mercadante was responsible for drawing up the PT government plan. During the transition, the former minister coordinated more than 30 technical work groups. Mercadante was also minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Education and of the Civil House during the mandates of Dilma Rousseff.
