On the eve of Carnival, the Consumer Defense Institute (Procon-AM) carried out yesterday (14) an information blitz in the capital’s trade to guide shopkeepers and sellers on consumer rights and duties, with the distribution of the Defense Code of the Consumer (CDC). The blitzes took place simultaneously in the center of Manaus and on Rua do Fuxico, in the Jorge Teixeira neighborhood, on the east side.
According to the director-president of Procon-AM, Jalil Fraxe, the agency’s action during the Carnival period is to supervise trade and instruct merchants and sellers with information so that consumer protection rules are complied with and, at the same time, deliver the CDC.
“The last thing a reveler wants is to have a headache with products or services. And we at Procon-AM are on the streets so that people from Amazonas can enjoy Carnival without stressing about buying products or providing a service”, he highlights.
During the action in the center of Manaus, establishments were found without the Consumer Defense Code, stores without prices in the windows, and after the guidelines of Procon-AM, they were solved. In the commercial area of Rua do Fuxico, the inspectors did not find any irregularities, all beverages were sold with packaging in good condition and with an expiry date in days.
