Black Pantera fuels the activist flame on the EP ‘Griô’

Closing with Ukumkani, a theme highlighted by a recording that exposes the incandescent footprint of the power trio, the EP Griô was named after a word of African origin that designates “the guardian of the oral memory of a people”. “We end up being griots of our era, because we talk about recovery, the black movement, activists, the history of black people, empires and everything else. We tell the story of our people, so erased, so kidnapped, but in a way that we can take it back and show that we are history beyond slavery, which is also a way of combating racism and elevating our ancestors, our people”, contextualizes bassist Chaene da Gama. Recorded in the studio of Rio label Deck, Tambor, the Griô EP was mastered by Chris Hanzsek at Hanzsek Audio in Seattle (USA). Signed by Gustavo Cruzeiro, the cover of the EP Griô evokes the ancestry embedded in the title mentioned by Chaene in this album in which, with keen awareness, Black Pantera feeds the flame that enlivens and perpetuates the history of resistance of black people.
