“Bertoldo” show ends children’s month with two performances in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – The last weekend of children’s month will be filled with lots of music and fun thanks to the performance of “Bertoldo – The Tubarão that wanted to be people”. Produced by the Amazonian group Buia Teatro, the show that delves into the riches of childhood will feature sessions on Saturday (28) and Sunday (29), starting at 6pm, in the company’s cultural space located in the center of the capital.

Inspired by a short story by German playwright, novelist and poet Bertolt Brecht, the children’s musical tells the story of a shark who, influenced by the mysterious professor Nobody, tries to trap fish in cages to teach them to swim calmly towards him. However, the fearless professor Someone and a shrewd fish realize the danger and do everything they can to alert the school.

According to cultural producer Tércio Silva – director of the show and founder of Cia Buia Teatro, alongside actress, costume designer and visual artist Maria Hagge, who makes up the cast and also designs the play’s costumes –, the fable deals with crucial themes, such as the search for acceptance and the importance of friendship, and questions the ethics of predatory actions and the manipulation of information.

Emotions & Reflections

With music created by Tércio and Gustavo Kurlat, the contemporary adaptation of Brecht’s original work marked the end of the Festival de Férias 2023, held at Teatro Amazonas in January this year, and also made up the program of the XVII Festival de Teatro da Amazônia, which occupied the city’s cultural spaces until the 15th.

Tércio makes it clear that Bertoldo’s journey is capable of enchanting the whole family. “It is an experience that stirs emotions and invites the public to reflect, regardless of age”, he highlights.
