Beer with rum, cashew or cannabis flavoring; see news – 04/18/2023 – Full Glass

Terp Sessions, an event that brings five labels dedicated to terpenes (essential oils) with a cannabis aroma, but without the effect caused by marijuana, starts this Thursday at Hocus Pocus (a Rio de Janeiro brewery based in Largo da Batata, in Pinheiros).

For those who want a more refreshing recipe, Colorado brings back to Nassau, IPA with cashew, originally launched in 2016. Among other recent releases, the highlight is the ale with rum from Van Been or the aged Bourbon Street, from Goose Island , which celebrates jazz month.

But if you want to invest a little more (OK, a lot more), the Californian Firestone Walker brings Nec Bones to Brazil, with nectarines harvested on farms in Paso Robles, where the brewery is located. All for the trifle of R$ 155.99. Check out some news below.

Colorado – Cashew IPA
First launched in 2016, Nassau is back. Light IPA, with moderate bitterness (47 IBU, on a scale that exceeds one hundred), Nassau uses cashew in the recipe, which helps to make the drink a little clearer and extremely aromatic. The seasonal beer can be found at one of the many Colorado bars scattered around the city, the Bar do Urso. Check addresses at www.cervejariacolorado.com.br/bares-do-urso.

Goose Island – Bourbon Street
To celebrate jazz month, the Pinheiros brewhouse launches the seasonal Bourbon Street, a name that makes reference to the famous street in New Orleans (but which will also remind people of São Paulo of the capital’s iconic concert hall). And those who know Goose Island also associate Bourbon with the desired Bourbon County. With 5.5% alcohol and low bitterness (only 19 IBU, a scale that exceeds one hundred), this wood-aged has an amber color, similar to whiskey, with a malty flavor. A pint costs R$27 and the beer is available while supplies last.

Firestone Walker – Nec bones
The importer TodoVino brings a novelty from the Californian Firestone, a darling among American artisans. Nec Bones is a wild ale with nectarines grown in Paso Robles and added to a beer aged for about two years. The corked bottle of just 375 ml requires a certain investment and costs R$ 155.99 on the importer’s website: todovino.com.br.

Hocus Pocus flavored with cannabis
The Largo da Batata branch of the Rio brewery presents Terp Sessions, with five labels that highlight terpenes (essential oils) that simulate the aroma of cannabis, but without the effects caused by marijuana. On Thursday (20th), at 4:20 pm, there will also be a workshop and tasting held in partnership with Cool Terps, for those who want to get to know terpenes more intimately. Among the launches are the hazy IPA The Last Temptation of Arjuna Mai, made with the cannabis Amnesia Haze, and the Lavender Kush.

Tarantino – Puxuri Bière de guard
The biggest factory-bar in the city, Tarantino teamed up with Manioca to launch the seasonal Puxuri Bière de Garde —puxuri is an Amazonian spice similar to nutmeg. With a coppery red hue, the beer has 9.3% alcohol and is part of the excellent Chão de Fábrica experimental series. Unlike other examples of the Limão brewery, this one can only be found at the headquarters.

Van Been – red ale with rum
Van Been Tap House, located in Vila Mariana, brings Red Light District beer as a novelty. Despite the name of the red ale referring to the famous bohemian district of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, the ingredient that stands out here is Jamaican rum. It composes a coppery red drink, with low bitterness and good presence of malts, distributed in 5.3% alcohol. Beer is available on draft only.
