Beauty and tradition mark the parade of group ‘A’ samba schools on the second night of Manaus Carnival

The second day of the official Carnival 2023 parade brought together several revelers

Manaus (AM) — Nine samba schools from group ‘A’ paraded and squandered beauty and tradition along the samba avenue, at the Professor Gilberto Mestrinho Convention Center, the sambódromo, in Dom Pedro, Midwest zone, thus marking the second day of the official parade of the Carnival 2023, which started on the night of Friday (17), until the early hours of this Saturday (18).

The parade was opened at 8 pm by Mocidade Independente da Raiz, with the theme “Noites do Oriente”, followed by Império do Hawaii and Beija Flor do Norte. Academicos da Cidade Alta entered the avenue at 11:30 pm. Then, Sem Compromisso and Presidente Vargas who, even in the rain, managed to cheer up their fans.

Dragões do Império, Tradição Leste and Mocidade Independente do Coroado were in charge of closing the parade, which lasted until the early hours of Saturday, 18th, at 4:30 am.

For Orenir Braga, vice-president of the Municipal Foundation for Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), the samba school parade is an important milestone for the resumption of Carnival, and for stimulating the economy.

“More than the dispute for access to the Special Group, for many schools, the moment here is one of celebration. Especially for artists directly linked to them, who suffered the impacts of the pandemic, severely. Mayor David Almeida has always had this sensitivity and inclination towards cultural movements. And, as he has been following the indicators of the cultural and economic impact of the party for many years, he authorized not only the promotion, but also a 20% readjustment in the budget ”,

And this Saturday (18), the parade of schools in group ‘B’ takes place. The parade starts at 8 pm with the Villa da Barra school, followed by Primos da Ilha and Andanças de Cigano. 00:00 enter the Reino Unido da Liberdade avenue, then Mocidade Independente de Aparecida.

In the early hours of Sunday (19th), at 2:40 am, comes Grande Família, Unidos do Alvorada and to close the Vitória Régia parade.

According to the regulation, the schools had 50 minutes to present themselves. The competition for the championship effectively ends on Monday, the 20th, when the judges’ grades are tallied.
