BC: Loan concessions soar 24% in March – 04/26/2023 – Market

Loan concessions in Brazil advanced 24.2% in March compared to the previous month, informed the Central Bank this Wednesday (26), with the total stock of credit rising 0.7% in the period, to R$ 5.361 trillion.
In the month, financing concessions with free resources, in which loan conditions are freely negotiated between banks and borrowers, increased by 22.8% in relation to the previous month. For operations with earmarked resources, which meet the parameters established by the government, there was an increase of 38.6% in the period.
In March, defaults in the nonearmarked resources segment stood at 4.6%, against 4.5% in the previous month.
Average bank fees rose last month. Interest charged by financial institutions on free credit stood at 44.3%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points in relation to the previous month.
In earmarked resources, there was an increase of 1.1 points in the month, to 12.1%.
The banking spread, the difference between the cost of funding by banks and the final fee charged to customers, dropped to 31.5 percentage points in free resources, against 31.6 points in the previous month.
