Base deputy criticizes government for not reserving “trans quota” in unified competition

Federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), who is part of the government base in the Chamber of Deputies, criticized the government this Friday (12) for not having reserved places in the Unified National Public Competition (CNPU) for trans people, as would have been the case. promised her last year.

The competition, announced last Wednesday (10) by Minister Esther Dweck, from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), will offer 6,640 vacancies in 21 bodies in just one test on May 5th. Of these, 5% will be directed to people with disabilities, 20% to black candidates and 30% to the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (Funai).

However, Erika Hilton claims that the government promised that there would be a 2% quota for trans people in public competitions. The promise was made during the celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Day 2023 along with the announcement of the selection of tax auditors from the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE).

“We sent a joint letter to the Ministries of Management and Innovation and Labor and Employment, led by Esther Dweck and Luiz Marinho, requesting explanations and demanding an emergency meeting to address the issue – among others of utmost importance for the dignity of trans and transvestite people” , wrote the deputy on social media (see in full).

According to her, the objective of the request is “explicit” so that Brazil “has the courage to take this step towards the future”. “Trans people deserve decent work and there is nothing better than that than starting, as soon as possible, their inclusion, via competition, in the federal public service”, she highlighted.

The deputy’s request for clarification to the MGI is signed by her and six other civil entities focused on the trans and LGBTI+ community. A People’s Gazette contacted the ministry to comment on the parliamentarian’s criticism and is awaiting a response.

The federal government’s selection, which has been called the “Enem of competitions”, will be one of the strategies to make up for the loss of 73 thousand civil servants in the last six years. Esther Dweck stated that the competition will fill vacancies that are open after employees retire or leave and reach candidates in cities where the tests were not available.

In total, eight notices will be published with the characteristics of the blocks of vacancies that will be offered in the competition, in the areas of Public Administration and Finance, Economic Sectors, Infrastructure and Regulation, Agriculture, Environment and Agrarian Development, Education, Science, Technology and Innovation , Social Policies, Justice and Health, Labor and Pensions, and Data, Technology and Information, in addition to Intermediate Level.
