Barion, candy and chocolate factory, opens mega store in Curitiba

Attention, fans of chocolate, honey bread, tubes and many other gastronomic delights! A large Barion store, a company from Paraná specializing in sweets, will be inaugurated in the Tarumã district, in Curitiba. The forecast for the opening is scheduled for next week, that is, before Easter.

The chosen location was not defined only by having a great location or even a good structure. Naturally, these factors are essential for the business, but the space located on BR-116, formerly Phoenix Studio, was once Barion’s headquarters.

In 1996, with the brand already established and consecrated, there was a move to the location where the factory is currently located, in Colombo, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. With more modern facilities and better growth conditions, the site has more than 40,000m², with 10,000m² of built area. In this large development in the RMC, there is the first Barion store, where customers and wholesalers usually shop. The price of products in the store can be up to 20% lower than in other establishments.

But with the need to improve and also save on the storage of the numerous products of the Barion line, the company decided to open a second store with a large space for storage as well. Fernanda Barion, Director of Marketing, Research and Development, values ​​this venture as a way of contributing to consumers and wholesalers, who will have another purchase option.

“It was an old shed of ours, and now we’re going to take it back. It was a business opportunity that will be a distribution center and store. People with an age group of 40, 50 years or more will remember that Easter shopping was done in that place. Our motto is to provide moments of happiness and we have this very strong in the company”, commented the director.

The inauguration is scheduled for next week, between the 16th and 20th of March. “Everyone can go there to buy, our products will be there with discounts. There are no intermediaries, so we can offer attractive prices. We combine price with quality Barion”, said Fernanda

Barion’s History

Barion, founded 62 years ago, produces at its factory in Colombo, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, almost 80 items, around 400 tons/month, which carry the name of the Paraná family to countless places in Brazil.

The beginning of this success story began in a simple way, in the 1960s. Coming from Marília, in the interior of São Paulo, Ricardo Barion arrived in Curitiba with the aim of setting up a candy distributor. He rented a store in Centro, where 1/3 of the space was used for the room where he lived. At the time, the family worked selling sweets, cookies, confectionery and the like.

In 1971, the company started making its own products. During this period, specialization occurred mainly in the production of chocolates and Easter eggs. Seven years later, the family decided to launch the honey bread, produced from a recipe passed down from generation to generation, coming from great-grandmother Barion. From the honey bread, Barion gained national notoriety, as it was the first to distribute the sweet in Brazil.

With the attentive eyes of the market, Barion launched in 1980 the production of the famous Tubetes, the first wafer rolls in the whole country and Easter eggs. The success was so great that in three years Barion reached the 3rd place among the big chocolate companies in Brazil.

“The process is similar to what was done in the past, as the deal has not changed. We produce 400 tons/month at the factory with 80 items, from tubes, cookies, chocolate bars, ice cream cones, hazelnut cream and many others”, explained Alexandre Barion, director of operations at the company.

Currently, management is carried out by the third generation of Barions. The grandfather and founder Ricardo died in the 1990s and the children Ricardo Junior, Roberto and Rommel follow the operation of the factory from a distance, which is managed by the brothers Fernanda, Alexandre and cousin Leonardo.
