Eating and drinking to the sound of live music is definitely something that people from São Paulo love. Proof of this is the new wave of establishments, which appeared a year ago, which were born with a musical menu —albeit classics such as Bar do Alemão, a traditional bohemian stronghold in the capital of São Paulo that dedicated five decades of existence to choro, samba and others. genres of popular music, announce their end.

The days and times of the presentations and the amount of the artistic cover charge must be informed in a visible place, right at the entrance of the establishment and on the menu, otherwise the customer cannot be obliged to pay.
Another important recommendation: the fee of 10%, related to the service, cannot be calculated on the artistic cover – the correct thing is to list it only at the end of the account.
The itinerary that follows contemplates all types of atmosphere and repertoire, from jazz standards to bossa nova style “a stool, a guitar”, passing through samba de roots and chorinho.

In the mix of grocery store, coffee shop and wine bar, the Bar do Bunker is located in the basement, where jazz duos perform on Thursdays, starting at 7.30 pm — there are only 14 seats and the reservation is confirmed with the advance payment of the artistic cover. On weekends, live music plays on the sidewalk, where there are also tables. Saturday has jazz, fiddle forró, MPB and samba, from 7pm; Sunday is chorinho day, from 1pm. Wines like the national red Pizzato Allumé Pinot Noir (R$140) accompany the cheese and sausage board (R$110, for two).

Bamboo
During the week there is live music for lunch and dinner. Each style has its day: jazz on Tuesdays, blues on Wednesdays, soul on Thursdays and pop on Fridays. On Saturday, MPB and pop rock performances take place without a break, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 am, while Sundays are exclusive to MPB (12:00 pm to 5:00 pm). Drinks designed by mixologist Marcelo Serrano, such as the moscow mule with ginger foam (R$36), give way to dishes such as grilled seafood with pineapple, rice and vegetables (R$450, for three people).

vatican bar
Inaugurated in August 2022, it occupies the basement of the Lvtetia restaurant, by chef Erick Jacquin. There are only 50 seats. On Fridays and Saturdays, jazz, soul and pop rock performances start at 10 pm. Until the last week of June, samba shows with Ivo Meirelles are scheduled on Wednesdays (admission R$150), and jazz with Tony Gordon, on Thursdays (entrance R$170). Classic drinks (from R$35) and filet mignon tartar with fries (R$90) make up the reduced menu.

In the multicultural space, artistic presentations and photographic exhibitions are the main focus. The music program varies – from DJs playing Brazilian music, reggae and hip hop to samba sessions, which usually take place on Saturdays. The lean menu includes the bar board, with cured pork steak, seasoned cheese, olives, lupins and peanuts (R$55), and the lemon caipirinha (R$25).

The house occupies the ground floor of the B32 building and combines contemporary Asian cuisine with an environment to see and be seen – on Saturdays, the lounge enters the rhythm of a ballad with guest DJs, always from 7 pm to 11 pm. The menu, in charge of chef Flavio Miyamura, ranges from premium sushi (from R$38) to noodles (R$80), including delicacies such as Peking Peking Duck (R$310).

Eulalia Samba House
Opened in November 2022, it honors Bahian aunts, mothers of saints and samba dancers. The presentations and samba circles usually take place on Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday afternoons — the times vary and are announced on Instagram. Snacks like hot hole (R$28) and bolovo (R$16) come with beats (R$12) and drinks like rabo de galo (R$16).

The Latin American repertoire matches the mojitos (R$35) and the house chilli, with meat, guacamole, tortillas and nachos (R$62). The program starts on Wednesday, with the Quimbara group (20:00 to 22:30). On Thursdays, at the same time, the Tripptico group plays Caribbean music. On Sundays, from 4 pm onwards, guest bands alternate.

Gattofiga Pizza Bar
The corner house has jazz and MPB live, on Wednesdays and Sundays, always from 7 pm to 10 pm – the sidewalk, where the tables are next to heaters, is the best place to enjoy the music of guest duets and trios. Neapolitan-style pizzas come out of the oven. The gattofiga, with burrata, pesto and nuts (R$73), goes with classic drinks like negroni (R$41).

Gioia
Jazz, blues and pop alternate in the piano bar’s musical menu. The salmon tower dish, with smoked salmon with crème fraîche and blinis (R$96), can be served with a portion of caviar (R$420, 15 g). The dose of old fashioned goes for R$ 62. The house recommends that customers make a reservation and, for that, charges a fee of R$ 100, reversed upon arrival, or in case of withdrawal, as long as this is communicated by 12:00 pm same day.

the brisket
On Saturdays, from 2 pm to 5 pm, voice and guitar performances, with an MPB repertoire, enliven the consumption of smoked meats, such as brisket with baked potato (R$ 178, 600 g). The place also prepares grilled meats and sandwiches, to be paired with craft draft beers (from R$13).

The bar takes live music so seriously that it has just launched Selo Vitrine, a record label for instrumental music and b eats that documents the work of the young artists who perform there. From Tuesday to Thursday, guest DJs perform with vinyl records. On Fridays and Saturdays, instrumental jazz duos and trios take the stage, while Sundays are dedicated to jazz piano solos. Natural wines or cocktails like the Geraldo Erro (R$36), with cashew sparkling wine, red vermouth, Campari and citrus fruits, accompany Neapolitan-style pizzas (R$40 to R$60).

cousin piano
Since March, the Italian cuisine house, commanded by Paulo Zegaib, from the Dinho’s group, has been operating in the lobby of the recently opened Hotel Qoya São Paulo. On the Musical Thursdays, always from 8 pm to 10.30 pm, the grand piano is open but the repertoire in charge of Mariana Lobato also opens space for other instruments. The menu lists classics like fettuccine Cipriani with truffle sauce (R$78).

Quintana Bar
On Saturdays, from 1pm to 5pm, feijoada (R$89) is accompanied by traditional samba and live chorinho music. On Thursday nights, from 7 pm to 10 pm, the repertoire is by the pagode group Amigos do Quintana.

In the gastrobar with a pet-friendly outdoor space, saxophonist Danúbio Panjo is in charge of the pop soundtrack – he performs on Thursdays (8 pm to 10 pm) and Sundays (11 am to 1 pm). Classic drinks (R$42) whet your appetite for dishes like the vongole and ricotta tortellini (R$74).

Live music goes on until lunchtime – from 1pm onwards, groups like the Soul Trio provide the soundtrack. At night, the repertoire alternates between jazz, blues, classic pop and romantic hits. Every Friday, starting at 7:30 pm, singer and guitarist Alysson Martins performs pop, MPB, national and international rock classics. To accompany dishes such as cod risotto with port wine (R$59), or portions such as mussels with fries (R$79), there are wines by the glass from R$18.
