Bar do Alemão, a traditional bohemian stronghold in the capital of São Paulo, closed its doors this Sunday (2nd), after 54 years in the Barra Funda region (west region). The establishment will be replaced by Botequim Canela Preta, under the command of the owner of Boteco da Dona Tati, which is located in the same region.
“It is with the feeling of mission accomplished that we inform everyone that Bar do Alemão is closing its activities. It has been 54 years of great music, meetings, chats, gifts and bohemia. A beautiful story, which will forever live in our memories and in the memory of the city of São Paulo”, says a post on a social network.
Known as a space dedicated to choro, samba and other genres of popular music, Bar do Alemão was managed by composer Eduardo Gudin. In 2019, he decided to end his activities at the head of the bar, but Livia Mannini, his former producer, took on the responsibility of continuing the journey of the establishment.
Last Sunday (2), the mood was left to the samba group Baba de Quiabo, which paid homage to the former owner.
Botequim Canela Preta still does not have a set opening date. Information about the opening and musical program will be available soon on the Instagram profile @botequimcanelapreta.
