The survey is for the week of March 26 to April 1. ▶️ Gasoline: Common gasoline was sold on average at R$ 5.48 a liter. The value represents a decrease of 0.54% compared to the R$ 5.51 of the previous week, according to ANP data. The maximum fuel price found at gas stations was R$7.19. ▶️ Ethanol: The liter of ethanol also fell for the third week in a row: it went from R$ 3.92 to R$ 3.89. The fall in the price of fuel was 0.76%. The most expensive value found by the agency in the week was R$ 6.50. ▶️ Diesel: The average price of diesel reached its sixth consecutive drop: it went from R$ 5.86 to R$ 5.80. The decrease in the value of a liter of diesel was 1.02%. The highest price identified by the ANP was R$7.69 in the same week. ▶️ Context: This is the third consecutive week of drop in gasoline and ethanol prices. Diesel fell for the sixth straight week. The new setbacks were accounted for by the ANP in the week in which the resumption of federal taxes on gasoline and ethanol completed one month – the measure became effective on March 1st. That same week, gasoline rose by 3.34%, but followed a downward trend. Initially, the issue caused an impasse between the political and economic wings of the government. Ministers Fernando Haddad (PT), of Finance, and Alexandre Silveira, of Mines and Energy, explained on February 28th the return of federal taxes. The increases, according to Haddad, were: R$ 0.47 for gasoline R$ 0.02 for ethanol The Federal Revenue Secretary, Robinson Barreirinhas, informed that the partial reinstatement of taxes is valid for four months, until June. It will only be maintained in the second semester if Congress decides to convert the provisional measure into law. At the time, Haddad said that the impacts on the pumps would be smaller, since Petrobras had announced a reduction in gasoline and diesel prices for distributors. “We have a clear objective, which is to rebuild the public budget,” said the minister. Still according to Haddad, with the reduction of gasoline by R$ 0.13 per liter by Petrobras, the final impact to be felt by the consumer would be R$ 0.34 for gasoline. Petrobras reduces the price of diesel for distributors On the 22nd, Petrobras announced yet another reduction in the price of diesel for distributors. The value goes from R$ 4.02 to R$ 3.84 per liter, a reduction of R$ 0.18 or 4.47%. The measure came into effect the following day (Thursday, the 23rd). The prices of other fuels did not change.
